Expert activities, which are also part of the task profile of the German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat, WR), determine the field of activity of this department. Currently, these activities focus on individual scientific institutions (institutional evaluations), on joint funding admission procedures of supra-regionally important institutions by the federal and state governments (Leibniz Association) and on federal institutions with R&D tasks (departmental research). In addition, institutions of the scientific information structure (museums, archives, libraries, databases, etc.) are evaluated.
