The Alliance of Science Organisations is an association of the most significant science and research organisations in Germany. It regularly gives its opinion on issues of science policy, research funding and the structural development of the German research and higher education system.
Members of the Alliance include the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the German Research Foundation (DFG, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, the German Rectors’ Conference, the Leibniz Association, the Max Planck Society, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat, WR).
The WR headed up the Alliance in 2021, which has handed it over to the German Research Foundation for 2022.
Previous position statements have covered topics such as animal testing, digital information, open access, copyright law, equal opportunity, research infrastructures, internationality and biodiversity.
In 2020, the Alliance of Science Organisations agreed on a 10-point plan for science communication (10-Punkte-Plan zur Wissenschaftskommunikation, German version only) to further develop the dialogue between science and society.
Joint statements and position statements of the Alliance of Science Organisations can be found here (mostly German versions):
