Personnel and career stages in science and research

The performance of the German research and higher education system largely depends on the people who work at universities and research institutions. The German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat, WR) is committed to ensuring that the structural conditions within which these people work are designed in such a way that they can fully live up to their potential during the different stages of their career.

In doing so, the WR shows, on the one hand, how universities can pursue a sensible human resources policy befitting their remit while also taking into account gender equality aspects. On the other hand, the Council makes recommendations on how career paths in science and research can be designed so as to offer appropriate opportunities and career prospects to the finest minds.
