What are the drivers of and the challenges to institutional cooperation between universities? What are the challenges in governing university consortia? How can the success of university consortia be assessed and what indicators can be used to meaningfully evaluate such institutional cooperations?
Three international panels discussed the various dimensions and functions of institutional cooperation and university networks within excellence funding.
Moderated by international science journalists, higher education researchers, committee members of international excellence funding programmes as well as representatives at the executive level of universities and university consortia from various European as well as global backgrounds joined the discussion.
Various stakeholders of the German university system, such as representatives of various German universities, among them the current Universities of Excellence, the federal and state ministries of science and research and the German Research Foundation (DFG) as well as the members of the Committee of Experts of the Excellence Strategy and the Excellence Strategy Committee of the German Science and Humanities Council were invited as guests.
