Wolfgang Wick, a neuro-oncologist at Heidelberg University Hospital, became the new chairman of the German Science and Humanities Council effective February 1, 2023.
As the 22nd chairman of the science policy advisory body of the federal and state governments, he succeeds Dorothea Wagner, a computer scientist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Wagner had held the post since February 1, 2020, and was the third female chair of the German Science and Humanities Council. Her membership ends after eight years.
