Wolfgang Wick re-elected as Chairman

Wolfgang Wick (right), a neuro-oncologist at Heidelberg University Hospital, was confirmed as Chairman of the Science Council at the WR winter meetings. Wick has been a member of the Council since 2021 and Chairman of the WR-Medical Committee since 2022. Wolfgang Wick has been Chairman of the Science Council since 1 February 2023.

In addition to the election of the new chairperson, there have also been changes at the top of the Scientific Commission of the German Council of Science and Humanities:

Dr Julia C. Arlinghaus, Professor of Production Systems and Automation at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF, Magdeburg, was elected as the new Chair of the Scientific Commission. She has also been a member of the committee since 2021 and succeeds Heike Solga, Professor of Sociology at Freie Universität Berlin and Director of the "Training and Labour Market" department at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), who has held the position since 2023.

Ferdi Schüth (left), Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and Director of the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research, Mülheim/Ruhr, remains Deputy Chairman. Christian Facchi (2nd from left), Research Professor for Embedded and Networked Systems at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, remains the representative of the universities of applied sciences.
