The German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat, WR) applies evaluative procedures in numerous areas of work: for example, in the context of its Excellence Strategy, in the evaluation of large-scale research infrastructures, in the accreditation of private universities, in the appraisal of research buildings, as part of state-specific structural reviews of higher education systems and in the assessment of individual research institutions and university medical facilities.
In its evaluative procedures, the WR also acts as an advisory body which, with its Position Statements, can support, but not determine, the funding activities of the Federal Government and the states (Länder). The WR has defined
for conducting evaluations.
Information on current evaluation procedures can be found in the submenu.
