Research institutions
The Federal Government and the states (Länder) can approach the Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat, WR) at any time with a request to review one of their scientific institutions. On this basis, the WR has reviewed a broad spectrum of institutions in recent years, predominantly from the non-university sector. Most recently, these have included, among others:
- Independent research institutes
- Parts of larger research institutions
- Research and cultural institutions
